New Products Launch for 2011 Tatung Unveils Group’s Synergy in Energy Related Technologies

Taipei, Taiwan, Thu, Apr 21, 2011 – To further demonstrate its competitive edges in energy related technologies, Tatung (2371) today showcased products of renewable energy and energy saving home electronics by its various business units namely Digital Consumer, Home Appliance, Industrial Appliance, New Energy, Motor, and ICT & Energy Solutions. Companies within Tatung Group mainly Green Energy Technology(GET), Apollo Solar Energy(ASEC), Shan Chih Semiconductor(SCSC), FOREPI, Forward Electronics, Tatung Fine Chemicals, and CPT also participated in the grand annual showcase to exhibit Tatung Group’s strength from a greater level.

The notion of “healthy life and eco-friendly” has been the focal point for Tatung’s research and development for many years. In a collective effort, an intelligent energy saving home, powered by GET’s solar energy and equipped with Tatung’s smart meter, energy saving electronics and energy management system, was built on site. A lithium iron phosphate battery, type of rechargeable battery, was also installed to store the surplus energy as a spare power supply source to the house. New ideas were applied to reduce the use of energy when possible such that hot water was innovatively supplied by heat pump, which recycled the heat emitted by air conditioning system. Forward’s LED lamp and Tatung’s In Home Display were installed for an economical way of lighting and smarter control of temperature and humidity in the home. By integrating energy related products with its professional ICT know-how, Tatung hoped to bring out the market potentials in energy related industries and a greener and smarter life people can enjoy.
