The Grand Opening of Tatung Netherlands New Plant

TATUNG has set up a new plant in Wijchen, the Netherlands to enhance competitive advantages and to keep up with the 3C trend. The opening of the new plant, a part of Tatung's global logistics system, is to be held on March 22, 2002. The opening will be presided over by Mr. W. S. Lin, President of Tatung Company and Mrs. W.Y.K. Lin, the Executive Vice President of Tatung & Managing Director of Tatung Netherlands. Mr. Ybema, Minister of Foreign Trade; Mr. H.A.J. Aalderink, Vice Governor of Province of Gederland; Mr. G.H.W. Noordewier, Mayor of Wijchen; Mr. K.M. Shih, Representative of Taiwan Representative Office in the Netherlands; and Mr. Krist Y.B. Yen, Director of Taiwan Trade Center in Rotterdam are invited to attend the ceremony.

The new plant takes up 20,000 square meters of land with office space of 22,000 square meters. Currently there are 8 normal production lines for desktop PC assembly with higher volume and 6 cell lines for workstation / server and flat panel display products with BTCO orders. Tatung Netherlands began its operation in the European market in 1996, now with all the new facilities being up and running, Tatung is now able to accommodate a production of 200,000 units per month. The new expansion of Tatung not only enables it to increase its European IT market share by its competitiveness in cost, delivery, and responsiveness, but also helps the company to move forward to its goal of US$500 million in annual sales for European market.

In light of the global trend of customer-oriented management, Tatung has in recent years developed into a global conglomerate in information appliances, e-commerce, and internet communication. Since 1972, Tatung has established subsidiaries in the U.K., the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Southeast Asia. It also set up subsidiaries in mainland China and Mexico in April and May, 2001 respectively.
