Evironmental and Safety Committee

On the fundamental idea of "Excellent Working Environment and High Quality Products," Tatung Co. has specially set up the "Environmental and Safety Committee" to be responsible for educational training, guidance, coordination, and evaluation of the environmental protection/health and safety work in each factory, as well as for the holding of related seminars and the company-wide annual management review meeting. Through the committee, it is hoped that the employee consciousness of enviromental protectation and overall environmental performance can be enhanced while a culture of environmental protection and a trend of environmentalism are brought along at the same time.

1995 Promoted the "Factory Environmental Public Conservation" and "Greening Office" To make good recycling and resource conservation
Implemented the "ISO14001 Environment Management System" To maintain export competitivity and to enhance the company's image
1996 Established the "Industrial Sanitary Laboratory" To provide school and company with working environment testing, and to continue to improve the environment to meet regulations on environmental protection.
Promoted "Life Cycle Assessment" To give consideration to low pollution, recyclability, and conservation of resources in every phase of the company's products and to reduce the negative impact on the environment. 
1997 Promoted "Voluntary Protection Program" To practice self management in compliance with government legal requirements; to achieve zero disaster in the work site.
1999 Established the "Tatung Waste Exchange System" To improve information services, reduce waste, conserve handling costs, reduce environmental pollution, obtain useful materials at low prices, recycle and reutilize to create profits, and help factory centers resolve increasingly serious waste management problems
2000 Promoted "Environmental Performance Evaluation" To figure out the degree of negative impact on the environment, continue to improve the environment, feedback the effects of environmental management, and obtain the trust of interested parties
Promoted "Eco-Efficiency " To eventually reduce the negative impact on the environment and exhaustion of natural resources in the entire lifecycle of providing products and services while continuing to improve the additional value of products and services to help make the business more competitive
Promoted the "BS8800 System" To continue to improve health and safety and to reduce danger and risk
2001 Promoted the "OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health Safety Management System" To continue to improve health and safety and to reduce danger and risk
2002 Promoted the "Environment Cost Accounting System" To bring about actual economic benefits by Improving upon "hidden costs" in traditional cost accounting and defects that hinder the company from detecting pollution prevention benefits through identification, evaluative analysis, and cost savings.
Established the "Tatung Environmental Research Center" To provide the company with the most professional environmental analysis systems and to continue to aid in improving the environment so as to ensure that the environment quality of each factory of Tatung complies with environment regulations. In addition, it is hoped that the center can become an authoritative institution of environmental analysis in the whole country, thus enhancing the company and school image. 
2004 Promoted the "Green Supply Chain" To assist the company in establishing a green supply chain and avoiding hazardous substances in product design, procurement and production stages to comply with RoHS, WEEE directives and customer requirements.
Established the "Work Environmental Measurement Center" To provide the company and industrial circles with the environmental measurement service.
2005 Assisted overseas affiliates to comply with SER requirements To assist overseas affiliates in establishing and/or improving their management system regarding labor, health and safety, environment and business ethic requirements of Social Environmental Responsibility (SER).
Set up the "Laboratory for Inspection of Hazardous Substances in Electric and Electronic Equipment" To detect the restricted hazardous substances in materials, parts and products in electric and electronic appliances in order to comply with EU, U.S. and Japan regulation, and customer requirements.
2006 Promote “EuP” plan Panchiao Plant was consulted to enforce its green supply chain function to ensure its suppliers can provide the parts complied with RoHS directive. 3C BU was consulted to introduce EuP into one of the products in order to comply with future EuP directive.
Promoted Visitor Safety Guidelines on all factories and subsidiaries To ensure the safety among the visitors.
2007 Promote GHG emission inventory plan Wire and Cable BU and Green Energy Technology Inc. were consulted to introduce the GHG emission inventory plan in order to establish the ability to report their GHG emissions.
Promote the company-wide labor health and safety education Cooperate with ”Study Center” organizing “General Health and Safety Training Class” to reduce the probability of commencing occupational hazards.
2008 Publish Corporate Sustainability Report Enforce the performances on the economic, social and environmental aspects and use it as a tool for the communication with the interested parties.
2009 Promote GHS Introduce and implement the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) in factories and subsidiaries.
Carry out Greenhouse Gas Management Enforce the knowledge and ability regarding to GHG management among the employees in the factories and subsidiaries in order to carry out GHG inventory and establish GHG reduction plans.
