Greenmark and Energy Label:
The "Greenmark" is an attempt by EPA to follow the international
trend of environmental protection. The purpose of Greenmark is to encourage
a business unit to conserve resources or reduce environmental impacts in the
life cycle of a product. A product with Greenmark is recognized as an environmental
friendly product.

The "Energy Label" is an attempt by the Bureau
of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, to ensure the
application of energy saving technology in products by
adopting the market-oriented mechanism to encourage manufacturers
to develop energy efficient products. A product granted
the "Energy Label" represents that, under the
same functional requirement, it consumes less energy and
bears lower energy expenses.

Green Supply Chain:
In
2003, the EU formally announced WEEE and RoHS directives and
required that its member states enact corresponding statutes
no later than August 13, 2004. According to RoHS directive,
EU member states shall ensure that from July 1, 2006 new
electrical and electronic equipment sold on the market
do not contain lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
In order to comply with customer's demand for green procurement
and meet international legal requirements, Tatung Co. has
been actively promoting the green supply chain, reviewing
our supplier's performance, and strengthening the existing
supply chain.
Social and Environmental Responsibility:
As a leading company in the electronic industry, Tatung
Co. conducts the Social and Environmental Responsibility
(SER) program, which is a requirement of HP and contains
both EICC and HP's General Specification for Environment
(GSE) at overseas factories.
Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (EICC) is a guidance
to ensure that working conditions in the electronics industry
supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect
and dignity, and that manufacturing processes are environmentally
responsible. It was first released on Oct. 18, 2004 and
revised on Oct. 14, 2005 by Dell, IBM and HP. EICC is made
up of five sections:
Section A – standards for labor
Section B – standards for health and safety
Section C – standards for the environment
Section D – an acceptable management system
Section E – standards for business ethics
In order to enhance the quality of environmental management,
satisfy the requirements of customers, take full social
responsibility, Tatung Co. set up SER Taskforce in 2005
and assigned members from the Environmental and the Safety
Committee and the Personnel Division of the headquarters
to TMX, TCN and TCZ to assist them in establishing and/or
improving their management regarding labor, health and
